Global Mining Group: EV Metals Strategy
The Challenge
This case demonstrates strategic TOM design for a leading mining group with 12 prior engagements over 10 years. With new management focused on EV metals and sustainability, they needed a best-practice integrated TOM for all global operations.
The Methodology
This case demonstrates new strategic Operating Model design for a leading mining group with several prior engagements over 10 years. With new management focused on EV metals and sustainability, they needed a best-practice integrated Operating Model for all global operations.
The multi-phased program included:
- Phase 1: Joint team designed new Operating Model content from internal assessments, benchmarks, and digitization.
- Phase 2: Pilot implementation led by site management with OPEX team and INUO support.
- Phase 3: Global rollout - The new Operating Model was structured around the following result layers: Safety, OEE, Cash Cost/Ton maturity, and On-Time In-Full delivery tracking.
The TOM was structured around 4 result layers: Safety (TF2 indicator - already ranked #1 globally), OEE (Availability x Performance x Quality full visibility across all sites), Cash Cost/Ton maturity path to top 10% performance, and On-Time In-Full delivery tracking.
The Results
Top quartile performance against global industry benchmarks across all operations.
